52WAD 2026 — OPEN CALL FOR CURATOR
NFTCanarias is opening a call to select a curator interested in leading the curation of the 52WAD (52 Weeks, 53 Works) collection for the upcoming annual cycle. We are looking for someone with experience in cryptoart creation, a general understanding of the history and evolution of digital and blockchain art, and the motivation to coordinate and develop the ongoing curatorial work required for the collection’s annual exhibition. The selected curator will work closely with the NFTCanarias team, contributing to the selection, presentation, and conceptual narrative of the weekly works that make up the project.
Project Description
Before applying, it is important to understand the dynamics of 52WAD (52 Weeks, 53 Works). This is an annual project by NFTCanarias that maintains continuous weekly releases of collectible works on the blockchain.
Each week, one artist and their work are presented in a one-hour X (Twitter) Space, where the drop occurs and collectors can start acquiring the digital work. Each drop remains open for a full week, after which it closes and the next one opens immediately.
Over the course of the year, 52 drops are launched, showcasing the work of 26 artists (two works per artist, one per semester). The resulting collection constitutes a living archive of contemporary digital art and its evolution within the cryptoart ecosystem.
Curator responsabilities
The selected curator-manager of 52WAD will support the artists in all phases of the weekly process, averaging four hours of work per week, divided as follows:
- Advising and preparing the launch: supporting the artist in organizing their drop and presenting their work (approximately 2 hours per week).
- Presentation in the X Space: moderating and presenting the artist during the public launch session (1 hour per week).
- Documentation and summary: creating a brief text summarizing the artist and the work presented (1 hour per week).
Application Proposal
If you are interested in joining our team and taking responsibility for an annual project as significant as 52WAD, please send a one-page maximum application organized in three sections:
- Artist selection criteria and conceptual proposal for 52WAD
Explain how you would select the participating artists and what would be your curatorial concept or proposal for this edition of 52WAD. Keep in mind that the project aims to give visibility to emerging cryptoartists, promote their recognition, and encourage collecting around their work. Reflect on the balance between supporting new talent and including more established artists with higher visibility. - Featured artists of the edition
Each 52WAD edition invites one featured artist who donates a work for sale at the end of the edition. Indicate three artists you consider suitable for this role, and if you have the possibility to invite them to participate. They must be experienced in tokenizing works, recognized in the cryptoart scene, and established in digital art. - Commitment and dedication
Explicitly state your agreement to dedicate 4 hours per week, fulfilling the three main objectives of the project:- Select and advise the artist before their launch.
- Guide and present the artist in the X (Twitter) Space.
- Write a brief summary of the artist and the work before the launch, for promotional purposes.
Compensation and Benefits
NFTCanarias is currently an independent, growing project with no public or private funding. Therefore, the curator’s work will be compensated with a symbolic monthly payment of USD 50.
In addition to this payment, the selected curator will receive:
- Specialized training in cryptoart, provided by NFTCanarias and expert collaborators.
- Visibility and recognition as a featured contributor to the project, across all NFTCanarias official channels, including the website, social media, and press communications.
This combination offers symbolic financial compensation, learning opportunities, and professional visibility, along with the chance to be part of a pioneering project in digital and cryptoart.
Application Submission
If you are interested in joining our team and taking responsibility for a project as relevant as 52WAD, please send your application (maximum one page) to curator@nftcanarias.org
We greatly appreciate your interest and enthusiasm and look forward to receiving creative and committed proposals that contribute to the visibility of emerging cryptoartists and the development of our annual project.
